Drawing lines on a cold wax medium painting

One of my most asked questions, apart from ‘how long does it take for a layer to dry’ and ‘how to frame a cold wax painting on paper’ is how to make (thin) lines in cold wax paintings.

There are two different techniques to do this, the direct and the indirect way, which I explain in the YouTube video below (Don’t forget to sign up for more tutorials!🔔)

I especially love the indirect technique, which gives such subtle lines and which I use often when I am creating the first layers of my cold wax painting.

In the video I am using different drawing tools, like Neocolor II, Marabu Art Crayons and R&F Pigment sticks. I use them a lot and they really add interest to the painting!
